Manual Electric Kiln Firing Workshop

You bought a used manual kiln, it's wired and ready to fire ... now what? .... This workshop will teach you how to:

Prepare your kiln shelves. Make and apply kiln wash, including kiln wash recipe. 

Load and unload a bisque firing. Load and unload a glaze firing.

Use the kiln setter.

Use a pyrometer to monitor firing.

Make and use cone packs. Understand and use the Orton cone temperature chart.

Use correct firing and cooling schedules.

Do post-firing shelf maintenance, safely removing glaze drips by grinding or chisel.

Review and discuss safety, including kiln location, gloves and safety glasses, and firing eye protection.

Saturday July 20         9:30 - 12:30  Glaze loading and firing

Workshop Fee $195.00 plus $25.35 HST  Total for the two days $220.35
